With the integration of the Magento certification program into Adobe, the process to take an exam has become more complex than before as several tools and services are involved.
I have written about most of this process in the blog post “Remote Exams for the new Magento Certifications” last year. There is one thing which isn’t covered in that post:
Typically, the person who takes the exam is not the person who pays for the exam. Thus, Adobe uses a seperate service which allows you to buy and manage Certification Vouchers: Xvoucher.
There are two roles in Xvoucher:
The Customer assigns the certification voucher(s) to the Candidate so they can book the exam as described in the already mentioned blogpost about remote exams.
Retrieving Certification Vouchers
As a customer
There are two ways to acquire the vouchers. One option is to purchase the certification vouchers as a customer at the “Adobe Certification Voucher Center” at https://market.xvoucher.com/adobe/global. If you don’t have an account yet, you can create one in the checkout.
As an Adobe partner
The other way to receive certification vouchers is being an Adobe partner. Depending on your partner level, you will retrieve a number of free certification vouchers per year. They will automatically be assigned to the primary contact of the partner. If you login to Xvoucher as the primary partner, it may look as follows:
Assigning Certification Vouchers
If you click on a voucher’s title, you can assign it to a candidate.
The candidate doesn’t need to have an Xvoucher account yet – they will receive an email with a link to set a password for their XVoucher account, and then a second email containing the actual Voucher Number and instruction on how to redeem it. With that information, the candidate can book their exam.
If you have any further questions feel free to leave a comment.
