On 14th of March, the first edition of Meet Magento Sweden took place. Invited as a speaker, I was happy to attend the event in Stockholm.

Nordic Web Team did a great job organising the most northern Meet Magento. 270 attendees had the chance to learn more about the latest developments in ecommerce technology and business-related topics, divided in two tracks. The dev track was set up in a cinema like room, while the business track was upstairs next to the mingling and networking area.

Since the MageUnconference was just over, my arrival at the fantastic venue was a bit late.

Talks Full of Insights and Inspiration

However, the talks I was able to attend gave great insights and new inspiration for upcoming projects. For example, Thomas Goletz from Meet Magento Association announced that they would provide new releases of Magento 1 – considering the discussions I saw at MageUnconference, this will be good news to many merchants and developers out there.

Since the quality of talks was very good, I’m even more sorry to have missed the morning sessions. But you know you’re part of a really cool community when speakers offer to repeat their most important points for you. Thanks again to Igor Minyaylo for bringing me up to speed on product search in Magento 2.1.

Product Search in Magento 2

In my talk, I presented the current state of product search in Magento 2.

Magento is working on improving this part of most ecommerce sites, which is vital for a good user experience. In the upcoming Magento 2 release, we will see a second weighting factor: search can no longer be influenced by attribute search weight only, but also by search query type. So ecommerce managers have more options how to adjust results, increasing the benefit to their customers. And that’s just the start of it. There’ll be a lot more improvements coming soon.

A New Level of Magento Partying

For those who booked the Night Owl ticket, Meet Magento Sweden put up some icing on the cake in form of an impressive evening program.
Globe
A trip to the top of the huge Ericsson Globe, some more time to mingle and a delicious dinner were part of it. Also, the Meet Magento Sweden awards were given to the winners in different categories.
Afterwards, it was time for the Disco Schlager Rock’N’Roll Inferno Quiz. If you have seen any of the video footage on twitter (Hashtag #mm16se) or maybe just photos, well, I can tell you that it was even more entertaining on site. I won’t tell you any more than this: I have enjoyed it tremendously.
Thank you, dear Nordic Web Team, especially Jonas, Johan and Anton, for creating such a great Meet Magento with its very own spirit.
