From table tennis professional to market leader in manufacturing and sales of products for table tennis. In 1950 the Japanese table tennis player Hikosuke Tamasu turned his passion into a profession and founded the company Tamasu, better known under the brand name Butterfly. Since 2019 we have been at the side of the subsidiary Tamasu Butterfly Europa GmbH and support the team in enabling customers to experience the Butterfly brand in the Magento store.

Migration from Magento 1 to Magento 2
When Tamasu Butterfly Europa visited us for the first time in 2019, the team was already running online shops based on Magento 1. Since then we have implemented the move to Magento 2 with a German and an English shop. In addition to Tamasu Butterfly Europe, we support the French Magento shop with security updates and the technical maintenance of the online shop.
Together with Tamasu Butterfly Europe we have optimized many of their internal processes. Since the company is a wholesaler and direct-to-consumer company, various processes run at the company’s headquarters in Krefeld, Germany – from administration to distribution which can be simplified and accelerated through automation and interfaces. In particular, we were able to improve processes for smooth order processing. After the successful payment of an order, the order data is passed on to the warehouse where the order is prepared for shipping. Depending on the destination country, special features such as enclosing a printed invoice are also carried out automatically. In order to manage the stocks, we import them into the database of the Magento shop for our customers. We also provide the data required for the Lexware accounting software and the customer is able to conveniently download it as a csv file.
In addition to interfaces, there are also small adjustments with which we were able to make processing orders easier for the team at Tamasu Butterfly Europe. One of these is the addition of columns to the order overview in the Magento backend with additional information about the shipping and billing countries. Here we especially appreciate the direct contact with the Tamasu Butterfly Europe team that makes it easy to clarify problems and solutions quickly.
Hyvä Themes: Magento frontend as fast as table tennis
We redesigned the Magento shop with Hyvä Themes. Within a few months we were able to create and publish the new shop layout with Hyvä Themes. This gave extra points for performance: The online shop now reaches the top value of 100 in Google’s Lighthouse Score. The pages in hardly any other online shop load as quickly.
Like in table tennis doubles, there are also areas of work in our cooperation with Tamasu Butterfly Europe that we split up: While the team on our client’s side takes on the internal processing of the online store contents, we ensure that everything is running smoothly from a technical perspective. Thanks to widgets specially adapted to the needs of Tamasu Butterfly Europe, the Tamasu Butterfly Europe team can easily change the contents of the start page and all CMS pages without any programming skills. Images with overlying text and button links can be configured and displayed in different arrangements, optimized for desktop and mobile use. These widgets reduce the time needed to adapt the store’s homepage to the latest promotions.


We are satisfied when our customers are satisfied
This sentence does not only apply to us at the agency, but also to Tamasu Butterfly Europe. The company does not lose focus of what is most important: their customers. From this perspective, there are always new challenges for the online shop: How can table tennis bats be judged if you cannot touch them? In order to create the most realistic picture of the products possible, we have developed an extension for the online store that allows product reviews only after the purchase has been completed and the customers have had time to test the products.
After Tamasu Butterfly Europe gave us our own table tennis equipment for training in our office for the relaunch of the Magento shop, we are now looking forward to competing against the team one day.

Instagram Shop Connection
To open up another communication channel, a connection between the online shop and the brand’s Instagram channel is planned. This will enable links to the products and direct forwarding to the corresponding product detail pages.
